New Vehicle For Moffat Mountain Rescue Team

Local volunteer ran ‘Moffat Mountain Rescue Team’ were presented with their brand new an off-road vehicle  at the weekend to help them continue the amazing work they do all year round.

There was a great  turn-out  for the official handover of a new vehicle, which has already  been used in call-outs but this weekend saw the vehicle officially handed over to the team. The vehicle was jointly funded by public donations with a substantial donation from St John, Scotland.

The fifty thousand pound 4×4 van is customised and fully equipped with rescue equipment and search lighting.

The Mountain Rescue teams, both Moffat and Galloway, provide an excellent service, not just to those requiring rescue, but also in support of the Police and Emergency services when searching for missing persons.

Moffat Mountain Rescue Team was established in 1969, and although based in the eastern part of Dumfries and Galloway the team are ready to assist wherever they are needed.
