Pensioner’s Purse Stolen On Way To Church – Moffat

Police Scotland officers have been carrying out enquires in the Moffat area after a theft and an attempted theft by housebreaking were reported to Police.
An 81 year old woman had her purse stolen while attending church in Moffat around 1100 hours on Sunday 26th February 2017.

At that time she was approached by two men described as 30-40 years old casually dressed with dark tanned skin, possibly of eastern European origin. Both had dark hair, were clean shaven and casually dressed. The men engaged the victim in conversation and the woman later discovered her purse was missing.

The purse was subsequently found near Dyke Farm however the money within had been stolen.

In a second incident a house in Greenwood Close, Moffat was discovered broken into on Monday 27th February 2017. At this time nothing appears to have been stolen.

Police Scotland are asking that anyone within information about either of these incidents contacts Constable John Cowan at Moffat Police Station on the 101 number.
