Mostly Ghostly & Food Train Team Up For ‘Spooktacular’ Theatre Event

A CHARITY fundraiser with a difference is being ‘staged’ at the Theatre Royal in Dumfries.

Award-winning tour guides and storytellers Mostly Ghostly Tours and local charity Food Train have teamed up for a ‘spooktacular’ event.

Tickets and sponsor forms are available from the Midsteeple Box Office in Dumfries.

They are inviting fundraisers to stay overnight in the town’s theatre – which is the oldest working theatre in Scotland and reputed to be haunted!

Mostly Ghostly are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and wanted to do something special to mark their decade.

Founder member Kathleen Cronie said: “We love working with our friends at Food Train: they are a passionate and dedicated local charity who make real, positive differences to the lives of the people they support. We were exploring ideas for a Food Train fundraiser and given that it’s our 10th anniversary coming up, and the fact we actually launched our group at the Theatre Royal, it seemed like the perfect partnership. To spend the night in this historic and famously haunted building is an eerily exciting opportunity and we’d like to thank the Theatre team for their help in organising and promoting the event. We hope that in addition to raising funds, this spine-tingling challenge will help raise the profile of Food Train D&G and those they support.”

The evening, on Saturday October 20th, will start with a two-hour tour of the theatre and this will be followed by midnight snacks with the event ending at 7am next morning – for any brave souls who can stay that long. Those taking part are asked to pay just £50 to take part (the tour is normally £14) or raise a minimum of £50 donation to Food Train.

Food Train is based in Dumfries and supports older people to live independently at home. They help older people across the region by providing fours services: including grocery deliveries, a household help service, befriending and MealMakers. Jane Anderson, Food Train’s Development Officer for Nithsdale, said: “We are delighted to be once again working with the Mostly Ghostly team and very much welcome their support in raising funds to support local older people. We are ‘dead’ excited about this unique event and hope everyone taking part enjoys the ‘spirit’ of the occasion. The team from Mostly Ghostly are brilliant at what they do and a huge thank you to them and the Theatre Royal for going the extra mile to arrange this very special event.’’ Continues…
