NHS Dumfries and Galloway Call for New Hospital Volunteers

NHS Dumfries and Galloway are recruiting volunteers to help support patients and visitors following the move to the new hospital in December 2017. A Volunteer Recruitment Day is taking place on Friday 30 June 2017 between 11am – 7pm, and interested members of the public are invited to drop in anytime at the Welcome Desk at the current Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary on Bankend Road.

Margaret McGroggan, Volunteer Coordinator for NHS Dumfries and Galloway said:
“There has never been a more exciting time to become part of the Volunteering Team with NHS Dumfries and Galloway. In December 2017 we will move into our, purpose built, state of the art, and modern hospital facility”.

“We are looking to recruit Ward Volunteers and Welcome Guides who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of patients, families and visitors they come into contact with. If you are interested in finding out more, we invite you to come along on Friday 30 June from 11am to 7pm in the main foyer of the current hospital.

“You may be looking for a change, have recently retired or have time to spare, or alternatively enhance your employability prospects.

“Find out about the opportunities available and discover the support, development and training we will provide. You can meet existing volunteers and staff you may be volunteering with and hear more about the role of our Ward Volunteers and Welcome Guides.”

Val Coltart is a Ward Volunteer at the Infirmary, said:
“Volunteering can and does make a difference; no two days on the ward are the same. It is great to feel part of a team and I love being part of a brilliant hospital.”

Downloadable application forms are available on our website to complete and print prior to coming along. Alternatively, you can complete on the day:
