NEW LUXURY HOLIDAY HOUSE NEAR LOCKERBIE STARTS OFF WITH COVETED 5 STAR RATING

A newly built property which has opened at Dalton near Lockerbie is ideal for family or group holidays and get-togethers and has been awarded five stars by Scotland’s national tourism organisation.

Greenswangs House is a large luxury contemporary country house which offers self-catering accommodation. It opened in time for Christmas and is participating in VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance scheme, through which – following a rigorous standards assessment – it was accredited the top award.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Greenswangs House will be open all year round. The spacious property sleeps up to 10 guests, its accommodation including four bedrooms, ensuite and separate bathrooms, a high-spec fully equipped kitchen and a large bright living and dining space.

With Dumfries and Carlisle just 20 minutes away for shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions, Greenswangs should prove popular for family breaks and gatherings and small groups such as wedding parties. And with a wealth of hills, woodlands, rivers and coastland on its doorstep, the property should also appeal to nature lovers, walkers, fishermen and those who just want to get away from it all.

Melanie Alford, owner of Greenswangs House, said;

“We are very pleased to be able to now offer our executive holiday home to visitors wishing to visit Dumfries & Galloway, an area of natural outstanding beauty which has so much to offer.”

VisitScotland Regional Director, Paula McDonald, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Greenswangs House to VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance Scheme and being awarded five stars on its first grading visit is testament to the attention to detail and commitment to excellence of Melanie and her team. This property represents another great investment into the region’s tourism industry which we hope will encourage new visitors to the region for years to come.

“Greenswangs House is a fantastic property set in beautiful countryside at Dalton. On top of the region’s natural assets, events and great local produce, it offers visitors to Dumfries & Galloway with another compelling reason to visit in 2015 – Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink”

VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance scheme currently boasts over 7,000 participants and there are 94% of participants in the scheme have made an investment in their business in the last few years, totaling around £70 million. The scheme has been used as an example of best practice with countries all over the world, including Sweden and Namibia.
