99 new probationer teachers started work in Dumfries and Galloway today, the most ever recruited by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
They were welcomed at an induction day at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries.
They learned more about the region, completed paperwork, and met the CYPLL Director and representatives of services with which they’ll be working.
Councillor Jeff Leaver, chair of the Children, Young People and Lifelong Learning committee, said: “Providing the best start in life for all our children is a priority of our Council. Recruiting our highest ever number of probationer teachers is a clear sign that we mean what we say. This is a significant day for education in Dumfries and Galloway. I welcome them all to the Council and wish them all the best for rewarding careers that will have a positive impact on thousands of young people in the coming years.”
