Oasis Youth Centre Gets Makeover – Dumfries

Young people from Oasis Youth Centre, Dumfries this week said a massive thank you to two local businesses who helped complete the recent refurbishment of the building.

Greg Harkness from Harkness Painting and Decorating and Colin Carlyle from Dulux Decorator Centre (both pictured) were both looking for a community project to support and made the enormously kind gesture of donating all materials and labour free of charge.

Greg said;

“It is good to find an organisation that helps the community so much and to give something back to them.”

Councillor Jeff Leaver, Chairman of the Council’s Children, Young People and Lifelong Learning Committee commented;

“It is great to see local businesses supporting community projects like this and I’m sure young people attending the Oasis Youth Centre will appreciate the new refurbishment.”

Cairn Langan from the Oasis Youth Centre said;

“It is refreshing and rare to find businesses like these guys nowadays. We would like to express our sincere thanks for their support and to do it for free is unbelievable.”

Not only does the centre have a fresh new look, it also has a recently launched new programme of activities aimed at 12-25 year olds – more information can be found at www.oasisyouthcentre.org
