Public Meeting To Be Held Over Parkhead Playing Fields Sale

People in Dumfries are being invited to attend a public meeting to find out more about the sale of Parkhead, a large area of parkland and playing fields between the Annan Road and Lockerbie Road in Dumfries.

The meeting has been organised by the newly formed community group  Noblehill Community Development Association, who also run the facebook campaign page Save Parkhead.

A spokesperson for the Association said:

“We understand that Dumfries and Galloway Council has sold common good land, which includes playing fields at Parkhead, to a local housing developer.  As a community we are very concerned at the lack of apparent community consultation given the potential loss of such a large area of parkland and playing fields.
“We know that Parkhead is widely used by individuals and sporting groups from across Dumfries.  We are therefore issuing an open invitation to anyone with an interest in the future of this land to attend this meeting.
“We will share what we know so far about the sale of the land, and we will discuss what actions we, as a community, can now take to try to secure its future.”

The Save Parkhead Public Meeting will take place on Friday 23rd June at 7pm at Noblehill Community Centre, Annan Road, Dumfries.
