Officers from Police Scotland’s Road Policing teams took the opportunity to meet hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts at the weekend when they supported the 14th annual Hizzie Run in the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.
The event saw bikers come from across the country to ride between Denholm, Moffat and Hawick on Sunday 28th August. Officers from Police Scotland’s National Motorcycle Unit joined colleagues from the local Divisional and Trunk Road Policing Units to help the bikers along their route safely and make sure other motorists could also travel through the area.
Sergeant Roger Park said: “Those that attended this very public and community event behaved impeccably and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all those who participated. We were supported by our partners in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service as well as volunteer ‘Blood Bike’ riders.
“In addition to our marked motorcycles, we deployed our unmarked machine. During the course of the day this bike played a part in recording a 44 year old man driving on the A72 and a second 44 year old man driving on the A7 at Midlothian without due care and attention. Both will subsequently be reported for the offences concerned.”
