POLICE PROBE SPATE OF HIGH VALUE THEFTS IN WHITHORN AREA

Rural thefts – Mid Galloway

Police are investigating a number of high value thefts in the Whithorn area sometime overnight Wednesday 18/Thursday 19 November 2015. In the first one a gold and black coloured Seadoo make jet ski which was on a trailer was stolen from a garage at a house in St Ninians Crescent in Whithorn. The jet ski is valued at £5000. Also stolen at the same time was a green coloured KXD child’s mini moto 50cc dirt bike valued at £200 and a quantity of children’s toys which were Christmas presents and had a value of over £200.

Again overnight Wednesday/Thursday a red coloured Honda  make quad bike was stolen in a break-in to a shed at Midbishopton Farm, Whithorn. The quad is valued at £3000. Another Honda quad bike was stolen from Lowbishopton farm, Whithorn, however this was later found abandoned at the Old Piggery, Bishopton, Whithorn, approximately 1/4 of a mile from where it was stolen. A shipping container at The Old Piggery was thereafter the subject of an attempted break-in, however no entry was gained and so nothing stolen.

Detective Constable Andrew Santangeli said “there certainly appears to have been a lot of criminal activity in and around the Bishopton area of Whithorn overnight Wednesday/Thursday. We have reports of two vans, a bright red Ford Escort style and a white Ford Transit style being seen in area in the early hours of Thursday morning. We want to hear from anyone who may have seen these vans, or indeed can assist us with this enquiry. This has all the hallmarks of a well planned crime spree which has cost the victims many thousands of pounds. Anyone with any information should call us through the 101 system.
