POLICE PROBE SUSPICIOUS FIRE- THORNHILL

Suspicious fire – Thornhill

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses in relation to a fire which saw a caravan totally destroyed in a lay-by near to the entrance to the Tarmac quarry at Morrington, Dunscore, Thornhill. The fire was discovered at around 0130 hours on Monday 18 January 2015. Police and Fire and Rescue Services attended however the caravan was totally destroyed. Constable Jim Kirkpatrick at Thornhill said “at this stage we are unable to identify the make or type of caravan due to the extent of damage, and we have not received any reports of a caravan being stolen. Anyone who can help with this enquiry is asked to call us Thornhill on the 101 number. It does appear from information we have that the caravan arrived at the lay-by sometime between midnight and the time it was spotted on fire at around 0130 hours.”
