£60,000 Quarry Machine Abandoned In Ditch After Attempted Theft – Annan

Police Scotland officers in Annan are investigating the attempted theft of a large CAT loading shovel digger from the quarry at Kelhead near Annan. Sometime overnight Monday 20/Tuesday 21 November 2017 the quarry was entered and the digger started up and driven off, only to crash into a nearby ditch. Nothing else appears to have been stolen from the site.

Constable Louise Bryden at Annan said “We are asking for the help of the public in relation to any suspicious activity around the Kelhead area on Monday night or the early hours of Tuesday. This a very large piece of plant and is valued at around £60,000 and would have required a large vehicle to remove it from the site. It follows a similar case at Newbie recently where a digger was actually stolen from a site there. Anyone with any information can call us at Annan on the 101 number.”
