RARE SWORD FISH SPOTTED OFF THE MULL OF GALLOWAY

Dumfries man Karl Savege contacted DGWGO with this fantastisc picture of a Sword fish that he spotted off The Mull of Galloway, Scotlands most southerly point, while sailing on a trip north to Islay. He was travelling on a  motor cruiser called’SHELDUCK’ which is mored at Kingholm Quay just outside Dumfries on the river Nith normally.

The Sword fish was spotted on the 01.08.2016. The species has been  confirmed by National Marine Aquarium and Marine Conservation Society. It is reported that less than 10 have been sighted in British waters in the last 10 years, most of them dead and washed up on the shore.

Karl said “It was a rare privelege.”
