RBC FILM THEATRE ,DUMFRIES, HAS A SHOT AT GLORY

RBC Film Theatre has a Shot at Glory

The South West Picture Show Presents: A Shot at Glory

On Friday 10 October the RBCFT will be kicking off this year’s South West Picture show with a football blast from the past.

Footballer Ally McCoist, Michael ‘Batman’ Keaton, and Oscar winner Robert Duvall, whose obsession the whole project was, lead the cast of this classic tale of the underdog. With a deeper story of family, societal pressure and sectarianism, this film won the hearts of Doonhamers when it was last screened in Dumfries.

Filmed partly at Palmerston Park, the film featured thousands of local extras in the crowd scenes. For those who stood on the terraces, cheering on Queen of the South or Kilnockie, this is your chance to relive those memories from 15 years ago or try to spot yourself on screen. Look out too for a host of familiar football faces, including Owen Coyle, Ian McCall, Andy ‘Smudger’ Smith, and Hugh Dallas. You can also play spot the location, including Boghead, Rugby Park, Hampden, and Crail.

Before the film, special guest Kenny Eggo, former South West Scotland Screen Commissioner, will recall how the film’s producers were enticed to a location shoot in Dumfries.

The event starts at 7pm, doors open from 6.30pm

Adult tickets £6.90, Concessions £5.15
