KIRKCUDBRIGHT MAN INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF ROBERT BURNS WORLD FEDERATION

Well known Robert Burns enthusiast, Ian McIntyre from Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and Galloway, was installed as president of the Robert Burns World Federation at their annual conference on 9th September 2017, held at Peebles.

Delegates from all over the world saw Ian presented with the impressive Chain of Office by retiring president Bobby Kane of Lanarkshire before thanking the company for their support and good wishes.

A native of Kirkcudbright, Mr. McIntyre, prior to his retirement, served with NHS Dumfries & Galloway, latterly as Patient Services Manager at the Crichton Royal and then Midpark Hospital in Dumfries.

During his term in office, Ian and wife Moira, will travel widely visiting Burns Clubs and Caledonian Societies worldwide.

Locally, Mr. McIntyre is involved in a number of organisations, particularly, the charitable 600 year old Haill Incorporated Trades of Kirkcudbright where he serves as General Officer.

Ian is a respected authority on the National Bard and a sought after speaker at Burns gatherings far and wide.  He is a past president of Dumfries Burns Howff Club.

Also during the conference, Jane Brown of Dumfries was made an honorary president of the Robert Burns World Federation in recognition of her many years service as manager of the Globe Inn in Dumfries and her work promoting interest in the life and work of the poet.
