Serious Road Traffic Collision – A74(M) J20 Eaglesfield

About 1607 hours on Wednesday 26 July 2017 a two vehicle road traffic collision happened on the A74(M) southbound carriageway just south of Junction 20 Eaglesfield involving a grey Peugeot 307 car being driven by a 39 year old man from Callander, and a white coloured Scania articulated lorry being driven by a 59 year old man from Reading.

As a result of the collision the driver of the Peugeot car, and his 50 year old male passenger, from Glasgow, were injured and taken to hospital.

The passenger was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance, where he later died.

The driver was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle where he remains. The driver of the lorry was not injured.

Diversions around the collision were put in place for around six hours and a full crash scene investigation has now taken place.
