STRANRAER RNLI PARK FEST RAISES £6000

The weather was not kind to RNLI Park Fest in Stranraer this year, and possibly kept many away from the Agnew Park, however, by nightfall, the tent was once again packed and rocking and an estimated toltal of around £6000 has been raised for Stranraer RNLI station.

From the Young Guns Stage to the Main Day – the quality of the programme was fantastic and possibly the best yet. This Included a highly emotive but first-class farewell performance from The Elastic Band.

Saturday night headliner 2014 X-Factor Winner Ben Haenow  did not disappoint and the packed tent got a bonus when his brother, Alex, accompanied him on stage with his guitar for a few ‘acoustic numbers’ To say he had the crowd in the palm of his hand is an understatement, he was like the pied piper with people of all ages dancing, swaying and singing along to a highly polished performance filled with cheeky grins and even a Beyonce bum shake.

Once again the crew, team and volunteers worked tirelessly, and often under duress to make the event a success. The positive comments and praise received via social media and the website has been phenomenal. There are really not enough words to thank everyone who contributed to help making Park Fest 2016 a triumph.

A spokesperson fro Park fest told DGWGO “It is getting more and more difficult to stage this event and keep costs and ticket prices low, however we believe we may have raised somewhere in the region of £6000 for the RNLI.”

DGWGO will be bringing you full details of Park fest 2017 as soon as we get the news in.
