The £27 million Carlisle Sands Centre redevelopment, developed in partnership with Carlisle City Council, introduces a new flagship facility to the city and supports a broad range of new programmes and opportunities for physical activity and mental health development.
Improvements include:
• Main pool hall (25m x 17m, 8 lane) & learner pool with a moveable floor (20m x 8m) and a spectator seating gallery.
• Four court sports hall with a spectator gallery.

• Changing facilities.
• Changing Places facility.
• Dementia friendly design.
• NHS Physiotherapy suite.
• Environmental measures to support more efficient use of energy and photovoltaic panels and combined heat and power energy generation.
25m Swimming Pool

At the newly refurbished Sands Centre we offer a fantastic 25m, 8 lane pool to cater for all your swimming needs.
If you’re honing your swimming technique, or introducing your little one to the pool, you’re in great hands. The Sands Leisure Centre hosts a range of swimming lessons and courses for all ages and abilities, with expert guidance from qualified swimming instructors.
We also have a poolpod, which lifts and gives you independent, comfortable access to the pool, getting you swimming quickly and easily.
With a relaxing atmosphere and free wifi, it is the perfect place to get refreshed after a workout, wait for your children’s swimming lessons, or simply grab lunch!
The coffee shop menu will focus on quality barista coffees and speciality teas supported by a range of soft drinks and freshly baked pastries, We offer high quality food and service delivered throughout the year. A seasonal menu and the use of fresh, local and ethically traded/sourced products, as well as a good range of meat, dairy and gluten free options are available.
