THIEVES TARGET JEWELLERY IN LOCAL BREAK-INS

Break-ins – Annandale and Eskdale

Police Scotland officers are investigating more break-ins in the Annandale and Eskdale area of V Division, Dumfries and Galloway over the weekend.

Sometime between 1200 hours and 1400 hours on Friday 12 February 2016 a house in Gretna Loaning, Gretna Green was broken into. It appears that jewellery was the target for the thieves and a list is still being compiled of the stolen items. Another house in Gretna Loaning was also the subject of an attempted break-in on that same day. No entry was gained in that attempt.

In Moffat, a house in Fingland Court in the town was broken into sometime between 1300 hours on Saturday 13 and 1800 hours Sunday 14 February 2016. Again the house appears to have been searched through and property including jewellery stolen.

Constable Courtaney Adams of Police Scotland said “we seem to be experiencing a number of break-ins to private houses at this time. We want to reassure the public that patrols are targeting the areas where the break-in have occurred, however want the public to get in touch through 101 immediately they become suspicious about any unusual activity in their community. We will be able to respond to calls at the time and we are aware from our subsequent door to door enquiries after these break-ins that neighbours have actually seen or heard something that they did feel was unusual, however didn’t call us at the time. Please call us at the time.”
