Transport in Dumfries and Galloway – Have your say

SWestrans, the South West of Scotland Transport Partnership, are carrying out public surveys on transport for four areas in Dumfries and Galloway and are looking for the views of local people.

SWestrans have commissioned Peter Brett Associates to undertake Sustainable Transport Options Studies for the Thornhill area, Eastriggs area and Dunragit/Glenluce area. Peter Brett Associates are currently carrying out a similar study for the Beattock/Moffat area for Beattock Station Action Group, with support from SWestrans.

The first stage in each Study involves identifying and understanding transport problems which affect the area and the surrounding communities.

SWestrans and Peter Brett Associates would like to hear from the local communities in each area about the transport issues they face and how their local transport options could be improved.

Views can be provided by completing the surveys which are on the Transport Surveys page of the SWestrans website: www.swestrans.org.uk

Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chair of SWestrans, commented: “A reliable transport network is vitally important in rural areas such as these, not only for local residents commuting, but also to attract much needed investment to revitalise the local economy.  Through this public consultation, we want to find out from local communities themselves what issues they face on a day to day basis when travelling around, from and to the region. We need as many views as possible.”

The surveys will be available for completion until Friday 27th May 2016.
