Firefighters Rescue Trapped Motorist in Dumfries

The casualty was lifted safely clear of the car after SFRS crews removed its roof.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews freed an injured man from a car after it collided with traffic lights and a road sign in Dumfries.Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to take the roof off the stricken vehicle and reach the casualty.They worked with paramedics to bring him safely from the car and he was then taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

SFRS crews were sent to the incident at St Michael Street from Dumfries Fire Station shortly after 7am on Saturday (13 February) and firefighters arrived within four minutes.

Two appliances were mobilised in response to the call from police control and the crews remained in attendance until around 8am.
