Comfort Teddies To Be Given to Local Children Who have Suffered A Traumatic Experience

A new scheme was launched in Dumfries this week. The Dumfries and Galloway Trauma Teddies scheme launched at The Usual Place, Academy Street, Dumfries at 2pm on Wednesday 21 November 2018.

The launch was attended by representatives from Children First, Police Scotland, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, along with children from Noblehill Primary School and some of the knitters who have kindly knitted some of the 350 teddies already gathered.

Temporary Chief Superintendent Linda Jones, the Police Scotland’s Local Policing Commander for Dumfries and Galloway said “The response from those who have taken the time and effort to knit the teddies has been overwhelming and we have around 350 ready to be distributed to children who have been caught up in any form of traumatic experience. The teddies will be located in police offices across the region, and carried in police vehicles as well. NHS Dumfries and Galloway have agreed to take some of the teddies for use in their Children’s ward.”
