VANDALS CAUSE £1,500 OF DAMAGE TO LINCLUDEN ABBEY FENCE

A large quantity of steel fencing which surrounds Lincluden Abbey in Abbey Lane, Dumfries has been vandalised sometime between Thursday 2 and Monday 6 July 2015. The fencing appears to have been pulled out of the ground and bent and twisted.

Constable Chloe Rice of Police Scotland in Dumfries said ” this appears to a have been a sustained attack on the fencing and a lot of damage has been caused. The value to replace the fencing is around £1,500. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything over this period to get in touch through our 101 number.. There also appears to be a quantity of empty alcohol bottles and cans left lying about and it may well be that the offenders were in the area for some time.”
