Two voluntary groups in Wigtown Area are to receive the highest possible award for voluntary groups.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service [QAVS], the equivalent of the MBE, will go to:
The Furniture Project [Stranraer] Ltd – for providing volunteers with the opportunity to participate in activities that support local community regeneration
Bravehearts Amateur Boxing Club – for providing a local boxing club in a rural area
The Lord Lieutenant of Wigtown, John Ross, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the outstanding work of these two voluntary organisations has been recognised by them being given the highest possible award for such groups.”
