Young Couple Donate Cuddlecot To Local Bereaved Parents

A young couple from Renfrewshire presented staff on the Neonatal Ward at DGRI with a brand new CuddleCot for parents whose babies in the region are stillborn. The CuddleCot, supported by midwives and baby loss organisations, enables parents to spend time with their baby after the birth.

They chose to donate the CuddleCot for parents in our region as they have a special connection with Stranraer. While on holiday in Stranraer they found out that they were going to become parents for the first time. They took the decision to buy the cot six months after the devastating loss of their baby Hunter when he was stillborn in December 2018, having received generous donations from family and friends at his funeral.

Bill Irving, Clinical Manager for Women, Children’s and Sexual Health Services at DGRI said:

“We are so grateful to Brooke and Kyle for donating the CuddleCot for parents in our region who suffer the loss of a child who is stillborn, and for taking the time to travel from their home in Renfrewshire to present it to our staff.

“They are such an inspiration, helping other parents who sadly suffer a loss like theirs. This is a special kind of support for parents who use the CuddleCot, knowing it has been given to the unit by parents who understand what they are going through.”
