A new grant scheme in Dumfries and Galloway offers awards of up to £5,000 to groups and organisations working with young people.
Applicants are invited to submit an application for projects, events and programmes that will benefit young people aged 8 to 26 years old and take place during 2018 to coincide with the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People themed year.
Projects that meet the funds criteria will go forward to a public vote where £50,000 will be given away through a participatory budgeting initiative that will hand control over to the young people in the region to decide where the money will be spent.
Councillor Adam Wilson, Dumfries and Galloway’s Young People’s Champion, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for groups and clubs across the region to get involved with Year of Young People. Our vision for 2018 is to celebrate the personalities, talents and achievements of our young people and showcase the best of our region across Scotland. The funding available can really help youth groups and clubs make a difference in their communities and I hope a variety of applications will be submitted.”
The deadline to apply is 12 noon on Friday 24 November 2017.
