Get Ready For YouthBuzz@AgnewPark

Young people will showcase their talent from 12 noon until 4pm [1200 to 1600] on Saturday 15 July in Agnew Park, Stranraer with local young artists making an appearance on stage.

The outdoor event YouthBuzz@AgnewPark was developed in partnership with young people who are involved in the planning and delivery of this local event.

There will be lots of other fun activities such as inflatables, sumo wrestling, bubble football, face painting, show ground rides, and the MyPod Mobile Youth Centre will be on site to add to the atmosphere.

Young people who are raising funds to participate in an International Youth Work programme to America in October 2018 will be on site with a fully stocked stall of goodies for sale, alongside information from partner agencies. Come along and support your young people locally and enjoy the entertainment.

Jake Rice, a member of Agnew Park Youth Committee, highlighting the benefits of Youth Work, said: “Being involved with Dumfries and Galloway Youth Work Service in Stranraer has offered me a wide range of volunteering opportunities that have helped develop my personal skill base and are also good for my CV. There are plenty of activities and training opportunities to take part in and I have learnt a range of new skills and met many new people and friends. I have also gained a range of awards through my voluntary youth work in Agnew Park Youth Base and the surrounding community, such as Saltire which will help with future learning and employment opportunities. I’m looking forward to YouthBuzz@AgnewPark and hope the community will come along to enjoy it and see what young people are doing in Stranraer.”

Young people interested in going to Youth Beatz on 12 August in Dumfries, with headliners EXAMPLE and BEN HAENOW appearing on stage, will also have the opportunity to register for a free seat on one of the coaches travelling through the West and leaving from Stranraer. Tickets will be included in the package.

Councillor Adam Wilson, Young People’s Champion, said “It’s great to see young people actively involved in the planning and delivery of youth work services in their local area, such as YouthBuzz@AgnewPark. Providing engaging opportunities for all of our young people is vital to building skills and boosting confidence.

“The Youth Work 2017 Summer Programme has a diverse range of activities and events throughout Dumfries and Galloway that young people can sign up to and get involved in. The Pop Up Youth Villages that are visiting towns and villages across the region are innovative and ensure that youth work services are delivered in all of our communities across Dumfries and Galloway.”
