Blackburns Hairdressers Supports Local Theatre With ‘Hairspray’

Wayne and his team outside the Fullarton Theatre, Castle Douglas.

Family owned Castle Douglas based Blackburn’s Hair & Beauty salon celebrated their first anniversary last week by supporting their local community theatre’s production of the musical ‘Hairspray’ at The Fullarton Theatre.

Salon owner Wayne Blackburn and his staff all attended the show on Wednesday evening 3rd of May. The salon team had helped support the local theatre production by styling the wigs used for the Fullarton theatre’s show ‘Hairspray the musical’.

Hair Stylist Marsha and Wayne created lead character ‘Tracy Turnbads’ wig by adding a blonde hair piece to the fringe and padding to create the hive, they also used Velcro rollers to provide the flick at the bottom.

Wayne double checking the wig with Rebbeca potts who played Tracy Turnblad on Wednesday night.
Wayne Said “It was pretty tricky to create the wig, we had to hand sow the blonde streaks in, and design a way to support the hive, that was robust enough to last the whole 6 shows.
He continued “The 16 strong salon team were all really looking forward to watching the production having not watched local amateur dramatics before, they were overwhelmed by the standard of the show & loved every minute of it.
It was a great evening and really good experience for us all to get together and go out, plus we love supporting other local organisations in our community when we can.”

Blackburns hair salon has gone from strength to strength after a very successful 1st year in business, Wayne and his team are looking forward to celebrating more anniversary in style.
