In March, ‘We Agree On Eggs’ (WAOE) Arts Collective launched a community anthology of works created during lockdown by writers and artists in Dumfries and Galloway. This contained stories, poems, drawings, photographs, paintings and crafts created since the UK lockdown began on the 23rd March last year.
The idea for ‘Quaranthology’ came from Phil Palios, an alumni student of University of Glasgow (Crichton campus), and member of WAOE. He said “I decided that capturing whatever people in Dumfries were writing during this unique historical moment was important”.
Lizzie Parsons, another ‘egg’, took up the mantle of the project when Phil had to leave Dumfries, and organized some virtual ‘workshop’ evenings for contributors to read each other’s writing and give feedback. Then came the task of editing and compiling it into a neat volume, funded by Loreburn Community Council and printed by Solway Print.
The virtual launch on Friday 12th March was a lovely occasion where the writers and artists shared their work, and the audience found out more and celebrated the making of the book.
If you would like a copy of the book, they are available for £6.60 including Postage and Packing: email: [email protected] with your address.
