Sir Jackie Stewart OBE To Open The Borders Book Festival In Aid Of Race Against Dementia

Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE, one of the best-loved, most highly regarded names in global sport, will be coming to the Borders Book Festival at Harmony Garden in Melrose on Thursday 16th June as the opening event, in aid of the charity he founded, Race Against Dementia.

Winner of three Formula One World Championships and twenty-seven grands prix, Sir Jackie will take to the stage to talk about both his racing career and life after F1.  Since retirement he has built a stellar business career but has also fought hard for causes he believes in, including Race Against Dementia, the charity he founded to work towards prevention and cure of dementia – a cause very close to his heart.

The unique event at the Borders Book Festival is part of the national Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022 campaign, celebrating the wealth of stories inspired by, written or created in Scotland.

Sir Jackie is also attending the Sir Jackie Stewart Classic – presented by Rolex at Thirlestane Castle in nearby Lauder on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June, which will include plentiful displays of his cars – including his championship-winning F1 cars – and memorabilia.

Tickets to see Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE at the Borders Book Festival are available from the box office at www.bordersbookfestival.org  or by calling 0131 290 2112.
