Amy H Ritchie(20) already has three published novels under her belt, and her fourth novel has just gone live on Amazon. A former pupil of St Mungo Primary School in Kettleholm and Lockerbie Academy, she is currently studying a BSc in Health Sciences.
Amy wishes to remind people of their sense of community, by launching her fourth novel locally. She hope this will also remind people to keep supporting the local businesses which have held us together through such strange and often difficult times.
Amy would love to spend a day in a local business where she would sign and dedicate any of her four novels for the public. She is hopeful of a positive reply from local businesses she has already contacted including Waterstones, Tesco, Wigtown virtual Book Festival. She is also looking to mutually support any other local business. Week commencing 6th July would be ideal, but any other convenient time can be arranged.
Her novels were each written under the NaNoWriMo challenge (NaNoWriMo national novel writing month: a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30 days of November). The first was published on Amazon’s Createspace when Amy was aged 12, and her books have been read or bought through Amazon across the world.
“Initially I took up the challenge to follow my cousin’s example.” she explained, “If he can do it, so can I, I thought. It’s been a very beneficial experience, developing my dedication, devotion, and self-discipline. It’s also very enjoyable, and there is nothing to quite describe the feeling of holding the bound copy of your own book in your hands for the first time! I would strongly encourage any budding author, regardless of your age, to take up the challenge.”
The four novels, entitled T.H.E.G.R.O.U.P. (T.H.E.G.R.O.U.P.2/3/4) revolve around the exciting and unusual adventures of central characters, progressing over the years. The evolution in the author’s writing style is apparent as she and her characters age, giving an authenticity an older writer can never achieve.
