DUMFRIES AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER IS NUTTY ABOUT WINNING NATIONAL COMPETITION

Kenny Routledge , 42 , from Heathhall Dumfries has been going nutty , ever since one of his Photos has won him nearly £1000 Worth of camera Equipment and vouchers !

Kenny is an amateur photographer but confident enough to do wedding and portrait shoots when asked, But Mainly likes to photograph Wildlife and Motorsports  ,he told DGWGO . Kenny works full time at a tool hire and supply company in Heathhall industrial estate , but got  a taste for photography about 14yrs ago when he decided to take up a hobby ,with a small compact camera to start with , moving onto an SLR and in 2005 a DSLR.

Kenny took his winning picture of a Red Squirrel in the snow at Eskrigg Nature reserve near Lockerbie  ( Main photo ) in February , He Told DGWGO “As I had some spare nuts left over from Christmas ,I set out to get some squirrels in the snow. I spotted an area where there was few distractions and put a few hazel nuts down and just waited till a the wee red squirrel  sat at the right spot and fired off a few shots with the camera and this was the best one from the sequence.” The winning picture was taken with a Canon 7D and 300f4 is lens, iso640 1/400 @ f5.6 +2/3stop.

He entered the photo in a Competition he spotted in a National News paper and won a Nikon D5300 camera and lens kit and also £300 of vouchers.

Kenny said for any other buding wildlife photographers out there , his two favourite local spots for taking the camera out are Eskrigg and WWT Caerlaverock.
