40 ‘Moore’ Years Please – Castle Douglas Chip Shop Celebrates

This month 23rd June 2017 Moore’s fish and chip shop in Castle Douglas will be celebrating 40 years of serving many hungry customers from Castle Douglas and the surrounding Area.

Moore’s chip shop was bought by Walter and Maureen Moore in June 1977 when they decided they wanted a change of life style from their hectic city lives in Glasgow. A year later their son Andrew was born and he took to the shop like a fish to water. Maureen and Walter worked hard over the years to build the business to have a great reputation. Andrew joined the shop full time when he left school in 1994 as it was second nature to him, Andrews Passion for the fish and chip Industry has allowed Moore’s to the become the Award winning Business it is today.

Sadly in 1998 Walter passed away, giving son Andrew the opportunity to carry on his fathers hard work. Since then the business has went from strength to strength, always staying within the family tradition.
Andrew’s mother Maureen carried on working in the shop until 2013, when the shop was refurbished. Sadly in 2016 Maureen passed away.

Andrew has a small dedicated and committed team, one of which has been there since day one, that help make the shop the thriving and most welcoming place it is today.

Andrew told DGWGO “To celebrate Moore’s we are holding a week long prize draw from Monday the 19th of June with a wide range of prizes donated by our suppliers and ourselves to say thank you to our Customers. this will be drawn on Monday the 26th of June and will be streamed on Facebook live.
On Friday the 23rd the anniversary day we will be donating all the takings to Heart, Chest, Stroke Scotland and Alzheimer’s Scotland equally.
We have Chosen these two Charity’s as a mark of remembrance to the Founders of Moore’s,my father Walter Moore who passed away from heart problems and my mother Maureen Moore who suffered from Dementia prior to her passing.”
Chip shop Manager Craig Said “Please Come along and celebrate Moore’s 40 years of success and continued dedication to the local community.
