Hundreds Set To Attend Community Event At Crawick Multiverse On Sunday

Scotland’s largest rural performing arts festival will take over the site in Sanquhar on Sunday 29th May bringing brand new street band from Oi Musica, The Tubes and partnering with Dumfries & Galloway Dance to showcase the incredible community work they’ve done during their 10 day Festival.

The Tubes

Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival have partnered with Dumfries & Galloway Dance to work with local schools in Sanquhar and get young people involved in their regional DG Dance Dare. They are on a mission to get the whole region dancing with their dance advocates inviting everyone to get involved by learning the regional dance dare, filming it and sharing it. Working with A’ the Airts in Sanquhar, Dumfries & Galloway Dance have taught the dance to local young people who will then be able to join in the performance at the event on Sunday.

As well as engaging with local communities and working with schools, the team at Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival are delighted to welcome Oi Musica’s brand new band The Tubes who will bring a ray of sunshine to Crawick Multiverse with their energetic sounds and upbeat tracks.

With banjo, percussion and harmony singing, shot through with trumpet, trombone and sousaphone for a heady mix of searing brass and earthy groove.

The band boasts 4 ex members of Edinburgh’s internationally acclaimed Orkestra del Sol, sadly now disbanded but whose spirit lives on in the work Oi Musica does to reclaim the streets and public spaces as settings for live music, fun and excitement and they are set to bring a lively and incredible set to Crawick Multiverse at 4pm on Sunday 29th May.

The band exudes positivity – its musicians adept at bringing the Good Times. Tap a toe, whistle a chorus and get into the swing ‘n’ shuffle – Americana, N’Orleans jazz and a dash of home grown folk.

Crawick Multiverse is an incredible land art installation based on cosmology, science and art giving audiences the chance to savour the beautiful landscape.

The show will be held in the Sun Amphitheatre which is at the heart of the site. It captures the beauty of the total eclipse, replicating its iconic shape and form with a circle of boulders and ridges representing the sun.

With hundreds of people set to attend the event, this showcase will celebrate the incredible work that the Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival has undertaken throughout their 10 day event, culminating in a showcase for the region and communities at Crawick Multiverse.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.dgartsfestival.org.uk
