New ‘Lest We Forget’ Memorial Donated to Devil’s Porridge Museum

The Devil’s Porridge Museum at Eastriggs, Near Annan, Dumfries and Galloway has a new memorial on display.

The sign shows the outline of a ‘Tommy’ figure from World War One with the words ‘Lest We Forget’ written below it.  It was created and generously gifted to the Museum by Rory Ewart of Ewart Engineering.

“We think it looks really eye catching next to Sir James, the Fireless Locomotive” commented Judith Hewitt, Museum Manager.  “As a Museum that exists to commemorate the trials, sufferings and achievements of local people in both World Wars, we are so pleased to have this figure outside so that we do not forget but remember how this part of the world war transformed by conflict.  With donations such as this, we keep adding to our collection and providing our visitors with something new to say and a new way to relate to the stories that we share.”

The Museum is open daily and booking via their website is recommended.
