X Marks the Spot -Treasure Trove Finds Day At Dumfries Museum

Dumfries Museum is hosting a Treasure Trove Unit Finds event this Saturday 13 May from 11am to 3pm.

If you have found an artefact whilst farming, gardening or even through hobbies such as metal detecting bring it along.

Stuart Campbell of the TTU will be delighted to discuss your finds and answer any questions you may have about the Treasure Trove system. Coin expert Carl Savage will also be on hand to identify any mystery coins that come in.

Chance discoveries of artefacts by members of the public have the potential to make a significant contribution to our understanding of Scotland’s past.

The role of the Treasure Trove Unit is to ensure that finds of cultural significance are protected for the benefit of the nation and preserved in museums across the country.
