BUSINESS OPORTUNITY FOR CATERING AT KIRROUGHTREE VISITOR CENTRE

Forestry Commission Scotland is offering a business opportunity for a catering company to run its services at the new Kirroughtree visitor centre in Galloway Forest Park.

The new company will be expected to start in January 2015, once the current managers, Cream o’ Galloway, end their contract.

Cream o’ Galloway has said they wish to concentrate their resources at their main business near Gatehouse of Fleet.

Keith Muir, Forestry Commission Scotland’s recreation and tourism manager in Galloway said:

“We have really enjoyed working with the Cream o’ Galloway team. Their renowned name has helped us establish the new centre and we wish them all the best with their future business.

“The Commission is now ensuring that a new catering company is ready to start when the current contract ends with a smooth transition being put in place.

“We’ve had lots of great feedback from visitors using the new visitor centre and the surrounding facilities. We’ll be working hard to build on this further.”

None of the other services or businesses at Kirroughtree, Clatteringshaws or Glentrool are affected. The Commission’s message is that it is very much “business as usual.”

Wilma Finlay, owner at Cream o’ Galloway added:

“The growth within both Cream o’ Galloway and Rainton Farm and our ongoing development plans mean that, sadly, continuing to manage Kirroughtree Visitor Centre is simply spreading ourselves too thinly.

“We have very much enjoyed working with Forestry Commission Scotland over the past year and the new visitor centre at Kirroughtree is a fantastic facility and a major asset to the tourism offering in Galloway. We are very grateful to the Commission for the opportunity they gave us and we are looking forward to helping to achieve a smooth transition to the new tenants.”

In the near future, Forestry Commission Scotland will advertise the new business opportunity on the Forestry Commission’s website and on DGWGO  and catering media.
