Dead Golden Eagle Found On Dumfries & Galloway Estate

Buccleuch has informed the relevant authorities of a dead Golden Eagle, which was found this weekend on Queensberry Estate in Dumfries and Galloway.

On the afternoon of Saturday 11th February, during routine duties, a member of the gamekeeping team on Queensberry Estate spotted a Golden Eagle on the ground. On further inspection, the Eagle was found to be dead with no obvious signs of injury, and both the local police and the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project (SSGEP) were informed immediately. It is understood that the bird was an adult, wearing a monitor linked to the SSGEP.
