70 OTMs: Well fleshed cows scarce and wanted. Plainer sorts less money.

C & D Auction Marts their fortnightly sale of 485 Store Cattle along with 115 Breeding Cattle in Dumfries.

485 Store Cattle: Trade remains pleasing. A mixed show for quality with more weathered cattle forward.

DUMFRIES DAIRY TO £1,880

At C & D Auction Marts` monthly sale of dairy cattle at Dumfries on Monday 1st November, an entry of 32 were forward.

Selling at £1,880 was a smart October calved in-milk Holstein Friesian heifer from McNabney Bros., Barsalloch which sold to W. Miller, Ryes Farm, with others from Barsalloch at £1,720 and £1,430.  Messrs Mcnabney also had a 3rd calving Jersey cow which sold for £1,270.

  1. Ritchie & Co., Fardingjames had in-milk British Friesian heifers at £1,540 and £1,440 and in-milk heifers from D. Williams, Cushathill made to £1,400.

A nice entry of Holstein in-calf heifers from Cushathill sold to £1,320 and £1,250 with bulling heifers to £1,110.

Calved heifers averaged £1,538; in-calf heifers £1,232 and bulling heifers £1,100.

The next Dumfries dairy cattle sale is the Christmas Show on Monday 13th December.
