More Lambs Required To Satisfy Demand At Wallets Marts

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 30th May 2017 had forward 449 prime and cast sheep.

 

253 prime lambs sold to average 241.33 (SQQ 242.67).  Again lambs were easily sold with numbers well short of requirements.  More are required each week to satisfy demand with 38 – 42kgs most in demand.

 

Top today was £110 x 2 for heavyweight Texels from Messrs Evans, Halmyre, Castle Douglas and top per kilo was 251.3 for Beltex from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland, closely followed at 250 for Texels from Messrs Wilson, West Barmoffity, Kirkpatrick Durham.

 

A small show of hoggs sold to £94 for Suffolks from Meikle Kirkland with Cheviots to 197.5ppk from Halket Leaths.

 

Cast ewes would be sharper for lean well fleshed types and sold to £97 for Texels from Orchardton Mains and £94 for Texels from Cogarth.
