Retired Farmers Group To Expand In To Wigtownshire

The Retired Farming Social Group is a social group designed for people to capture and share memories of their farming days. The group has been running in the Stewartry and Dumfries areas for over 2 years now and aims to bring people together who have worked in any areas of farming and agriculture.

Anyone who has had a link to farming can come along, we have around 50 members to date and monthly meetings are held from 1.30- 3.30 pm.

There is usually a speaker and refreshments, one of the most popular parts of the afternoon is the chat….with all that farming knowledge and expertise in the room, there are some wonderful discussions and lots of laughter!

As well as monthly meetings, the group also organises regular trips and farm visits. Visits to farms throughout the region are always a real highlight for our members.

The group currently alternates its monthly meetings between Castle Douglas and Dumfries.  People from anywhere in the region or beyond can attend and there are plans to hold meetings in other parts of the region in the longer term.
