Rural Women Encouraged to ‘Realise Ambitions’

Women working in Scotland’s rural sector will be encouraged to “identify their potential and realise their ambitions” in Perthshire next month.

The Women in Agriculture group’s third annual spring event, which takes place at Battleby Conference Centre on Friday 11 May, is entitled Business Planning – Futureproofing Your Business.

Heather Wildman, Managing Director of Saviour Associates, will be among the speakers, while attendees will also benefit from mentoring sessions led by the Royal Bank of Scotland and Savills. The Royal Bank of Scotland will also give a presentation on “understanding fraud”.

Heather said that,“Although agriculture has historically been regarded as predominantly male, the industry was seeing more and more women running and owning their own farms and businesses and taking a more active role in the strategic planning and running of family businesses.”
She added: “Working in Agriculture is a privilege. I am so lucky to be invited into people’s lives and businesses, listening and learning their stories, their frustrations and their challenges and it always surprises me how many people have something amazing within them but for some reason it has not had the opportunity to surface.”
“My aim is to help those attending the Women in Agriculture event to identify their potential, their dreams and goals and to leave feeling positive and motivated and able to build the life that they aspire to.”

June Geyer, Chair of Women in Agriculture, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Heather and our other speakers to our spring event, which I’m sure will prove popular with women from across Scotland’s rural sector. It’s also an excellent opportunity for people to learn new skills, to network and to make useful new contacts.”

The Women in Agriculture spring event takes place at Battleby Conference Centre, Redgorton, Perth, PH1 3EW, on Friday 11 May from 10.30am-3.30pm.
