OTM & STORE CATTLE SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held first sale for 2016 of OTM and Store Cattle. Due to adverse weather conditions many lots entered could not get out of the farm roads which resulted in a very small turnout of stock forward. However those that were able to make it were well rewarded.
Topping the store cattle section at £840 were a pair of Limousin cross heifers consigned by H & N Armstrong, Farhills which sold to W J Henderson & Son, Carswadda, Beeswing. Top price per kg in the heifer section was 212.2p again for Limousin heifers from Farhills selling to R Neill, Upper Tinwald. Limousin bullocks from Farhills topped at £820 or 220.4p selling to Kingan Farms, Lochhill, New Abbey.
OTM Cattle were also easily sold topping at 125p per kg or £921.58 for an Aberdeen Angus from Culnaightrie. Next up at £921.06 was another Aberdeen Angus, this time from Corra, Castle Douglas. Overall average levelled at 109.21p or £723.73.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time.
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1171 prime hoggs and cast sheep on Tuesday 19th January 2016.
897 prime hoggs sold to average 180.47 (SQQ 184.67) All classes of hoggs were sharper on the week with all classes short of requirements.
Hoggs sold to a top of £90 from Messrs Kerr, Midtown, Castle Douglas for 40kg beltex hoggs which were also the top price per kilo at 225p.
274 cast sheep again similar with over fat still a struggle. Ewes to £104.50 for Beltex’s from Mid Croft. Blackfaces to £56 from Slatehouse.
