Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1595 Prime hoggs and Cast Sheep on Tuesday 23rd February 2016.
1019 prime hoggs sold to average 175.37p per kg. Quality hoggs were short of requirements with over 600 hoggs under 39kg. Well fleshed hoggs between 30-39kgs were easily sold with plainer sorts being more cautiously bid for.
Top today was £97 for a pen of heavy texels from Messrs Craig, Compstonend who also had top price per kg at 207.7p for a pen of Beltex.
576 Store sheep sold sharper again to a top of £135 for Texels from Midtown, Castle Douglas. Mules to £85 from Muncraig and Blackface to £70.50 from Lagganpark.
