Tractor Run To Be Held In Memory Of Willie Dunlop & Gordon Carlyle

ON the 4th of July 2021 a Tractor Run will be held at Park Farm Dumfries in Memory of two local farmers Willie Dunlop and Gordon Carlyle who both passed away recently.

Event Organiser Sandy Dunlop told DGWGO “We are organising a memorial charity tractor road run on the 4th of July in memory of my Father  and father in law Gordon Carlyle. We lost them both during the recent lockdowns this year and last year. My father used to organise a vintage tractor road run every year for a couple of charities and over the years they had a good time while raising some money for worthwhile causes.
He had one organised for 2020 but due to his brief illness he passed away last March from Cancer, following this we couldn’t organise it last year so postponed it until this year. unfortunatley this March we lost my Father in law, so we thought it would be a good idea to combine them both into the charity run to raise money for some good causes that are close to both families.
We are raising money for The Maggies Centre and the British Heart Foundation. If anyone would like to enter please contact Sandy on the numbers on the poster before the end of day on the 1st, this is for cartering and COVID regulations.
The event is being held on Sunday the 4th of July starting from the New Abbey end of the Park Farm Show field at 10am. We are welcoming all styles of Tractors and even have a Unimog entered already.
Both Willie & Gordon were farmers their whole life and very much family men, Willie was the chairman of the Retired Farmers group, he was a very outgoing individual who enjoyed to a blether. Willie started his farming career on the family farm near Irvine before moving to Auldgirth in 1964 where he stayed and farmed until last year. Gordon on the other hand was a dedicated hard working farmer who worked his whole life on the family farms, firstly near Whamphrey until the family moved when he was 21 up to their now home at Kirkconnel.”

Full details are on the poster.
