Wallets Marts Annual Christmas Show & Sale Tuesday 7th December 2021

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 7^th December 2021 held their Annual Christmas Show and Sale of Prime Lambs where some 1788 prime and cast sheep were forward.

Wallets Marts held their annual Christmas show and would like to thank Mr David Erskine, Scotbeef Ltd for judging the show, as well as the vendors for taking their time to put forward a tremendous show of lambs, 29 pens of three were presented. This year’s Champions were found in the first prize Beltex lambs which were 46kg from Messrs Smith, Barmurrie. These sold to Grierson Bros Butchers, Castle Douglas for £260. Reserve today was the first prize Texel lambs from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw, Castle Douglas, these lambs were 41.7kg and sold to £168 to Ballard Butchers, Castle Douglas. Out with the show 1493 prime lambs sold to an average of 285.28 (SQQ 289.45) with top price being £167 for Beltex from Messrs McMillan, Carse of Clary and top pence per kilo going to 387.3 for Texels from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw.

Cast sheep sold to £149 for a ram from Messrs Lockhart, Culdoach and ewes to £191 from Messrs McMillan, Carse of Clary.
