Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1594 prime hoggs and cast sheep on Tuesday 12th January 2016.
1335 prime hoggs sold to average 174.47 (SQQ 175.42). All classes of hoggs were easily sold with a larger show forward on the week.
Hoggs today sold to a top of £90 per head for heavyweight Texels from Douganhill Farms. Top price per kg was 217.98p per kg for Beltex hoggs from Compstonend.
243 cast sheep sold at similar rates to a top of £96 for Texel rams from Mossyard. Ewes to £80 for Suffolks from Cannee.
