Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 10th December 2019 at their Annual Christmas Show and Sale had forward 3220 prime and cast sheep.
On what was a dreadful day weather wise we would like to thank everyone for their patience on the busiest Tuesday of the year and this coupled with the show led to a hectic day all round. We are indebted to your continued support and hope the super Christmas lunch help brighten the day. Trade was similar from start to finish.
What a turnout for Christmas Show and Sale with 41 pens of lambs forward kindly sponsored by TARFF VALLEY LTD and judged by Mr J MacTaggart, Dunjop regular buyer for Vivers Scotlamb and Scotbeef Ltd. An outstanding show of lambs were presented in front of our judge. Champion today were from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw, Castle Douglas and brought out by shepherd Mr John Tait these were first prize beltex lambs and scaled 44.7kgs and realised £200 to local butcher Mr Tom Grierson of Grierson Bros Butchers, Castle Douglas. Reserve went to another regular consignor Messrs McConnell, Gass, Glenluce with the first prize A.O.B lambs which were blue texels these scaled at 49kgs and realised £145 to local butcher Mr Jimmy Craig of Ballards Butchers, Castle Douglas. Jimmy also purchased the first prize pen of blackface lambs from Messrs Burns, Craignell, New Galloway these scaled 45kgs and realised £94.
Again a huge thanks to all the consignors on a super show of lambs and were still rewarded with a grand trade.
