WALLETS MARTS HOLD FIRST POULTRY, WATERFOWL AND RARE-BREED SHEEP SALE

 

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their first sale of Poultry, Waterfowl and Rare Breed Sheep on Saturday 28th May 2016.

 

All classes of poultry, waterfowl and sheep were keenly bid for by a packed ringside of buyers.  Topping the sale at £155 was 3 Guineafowl from Mary Leggate, Stromalloch Farm.  Top price in the waterfowl section was £110 for 4 Welsh Harlequin ducks from James Hyslop, Colmonell.  The 42 rare breed sheep sold to a top of £118 per head for a pen of 3 Poll Dorset ewe hoggs from Maud Walker, Barwhinnock Farm, Whauphill.  Also forward at the sale was 53 lots of ringstock, 88 lots of hatching eggs and 22 lots of equipment.  Leading the way in the ringstock section was a broody hen with Blue Silkie Chicks at £100 from J Lawson, Kirkmuirhill.  In the hatching egg section, S Dundar, Burnfoothill Farm, achieved the top price of £32 for a dozen Shetland Duck eggs.  Topping the equipment at £145 was a Brinsea Polyhatch Incubator from M Smith, South Clutag.
