1283 prime lambs averged a phenomenal 227 (SQQ 228.1). First day of September and prime lambs averaged £96.14 – what a trade, and at present the trade of the week north of the border.
Top today was £121 achieved twice, firstly for Millenium Bleu lambs from Messrs Newbould, Meikle Cloak then for Texels from Messrs McKie, Finniness. Top per kg today was 260ppk for a pen of super Beltex lambs from Gelston Castle Farms, Castle Douglas. Scotch Mules sold to £103 from Culdoach with top per kilo being 229.7 for a pen of lightweights from Ardoch.
A large show of 716 cast sheep were easily sold selling to £139 for Texels from Breconside, Scotch Mule ewes sold to £86.50 x 2 from Southmains and Boreland of Girthon with Blackface selling to £67.50 x 2 from Falbae and Southmains.
